Who doesn't love pizza? If you have every wished you could make your own pizza at home that is just as good (or better) than the ones you order, you have found it! Here is the best bread machine pizza dough recipe I have ever found, a wonderful pizza sauce recipe, and lots of ideas for unique topping combinations that you won't find at your neighborhood Pizza Hut!

The hardest part of making your own homemade pizza is making the crust! After years of trying different ways of making pizza crust, I found this pizza dough recipe that comes as close as I have had to pizza parlor pizza.

When you have your crust ready, now comes the fun part! Choosing your toppings!

For the best pizza, it's important to choose toppings that work well together, not to just pile on everything you can find. Try some of these combinations:

Vegetarian Pizza Topping Ideas
  • Fresh sliced tomatoes, kalamata olives, and scallions
  • Sliced pears, Fontina cheese and walnuts
  • Feta cheese, olives (green or black), basil, and any smooth mellow cheese
  • Eggplant, roasted sweet peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes
  • Onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and mozzarella
  • Roasted garlic,
  • Chanterelle mushrooms, fresh thyme, and Gruyere
  • Swiss chard, cannellini beans, and farmer cheese
  • Sliced fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, and mozzarella

Other Pizza Topping Ideas

  • Spinach, crumbled Italian sausage, and provolone cheese
  • Ham, Gouda cheese and green onions
  • Shredded roasted chicken, arichoke hearts, and any smooth mellow cheese
  • Shrimp, bacon, and chives
  • TUrkey sausage, roasted onions, and mozzarella

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees

  • To shape the dough, place it on a lightly floured surface and shape it into a small, flat disk. Working from the center, push the dough outward to make the disk larger. Pick up the dough and move your hands along the edges, allowing gravity to pull it in to a circle. If it thins in sections, return it to the floured surface and pull and stretch it there.

  • Place the dough on well greased baking tray or pizza pan.

  • Add toppings of your choice and bake at 425 until crust is golden brown around the edges and the toppings are hot and bubbly. How long this takes will depend on your toppings and how thick your crust is. (Usually 12 - 20 minutes)
