Homemade Turkey Pot Pie Recipe

Hot and creamy - homemade turkey pot pie is the ultimate comfort food! Make this hearty and healthy version from your holiday leftovers.

If you have leftover gravy too, you can use that instead of the cream sauce which will make this a super easy recipe!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter or turkey or chicken fat

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1 1/4 cups chicken or turkey stock

1/2 cup milk

2 cups diced, cooked turkey

1 package frozen peas and carrots or other vegetable - fresh or frozen

pie pastry (homemade or frozen)


Directions:

Heat the butter over low heat until melted. Blend in flour, onion, salt, and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat.

Stir in broth and milk; heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir one minute. Stir in turkey and vegetables.

Pour mixture into a pastry-lined pie pan or casserole dish. Top with crust.

Cook uncovered in a 425° oven until crust is brown, 30 - 35 minutes.

Serves 6
