The Second And Top House Fireplace/Braai

Growing up in a household always a bit strapped for cash and with four boys, we were always coming up with ways to reuse things.

And out in South Africa on a farm we were always (and still are) making fires and having Braais (Barbeques) outside.

So one day instead buying a new Braai, my one brother came up with the idea of turning the inside of a old Tumble Dryer into a Fireplace/Braai.

It was the perfect thing to use, the right size, with holes all around the side that would bring fresh air into the fire to keep it going! All he had to do was make a stand and a grill for it.

And it worked so well!!! It has also lasted us for ages now.

Recently he made another one so that the two houses on the farm could each have one. He had to drill holes into the side of it though as there weren't holes in it already.

He still hasn't made a stand for this one yet though... Getting lazy in his old age, haha, he's 27!

Frugality rocks!
by: Mama Hubbard

Hi

I love this - have always wanted to make one. I've just started a new blog on frugality in SA, to uplift and inform - not for any financial gain.

You're welcome to take a look at it - greaterthansparrows.wordpress - might have to google it. You're most welcome to leave some tips too - I want it to be as interactive as possible.

Just be gentle - I only started it today!

I love this idea! So creative! Thank you for submitting it, Rob. I am going to try to get my hubby to make us one! (Our grill is on its last leg)
