Stop Clutter by Donating to Charity Thrift Shops

I find my closet fills up with clothes so easily now, since I started to go to thrift shops. The good thing is I can easily empty it and keep the flow going from me to them and back.

I started to go to the local shop run by 'Save The Children Fund'. The first time I went there I took them some old magazines and books that I needed to get rid of. I felt good as the cause was excellent. I discovered how many good clothes and shoes etc they sell.

I was hooked! So I bought some, then I went home and cleaned out the closet to take some back. Well I took down two bags and came back with a new top and lovely matching pants.

Now I regularly clear out old magazines and books, and the clothes that no longer fit! Ooops! I find I have put on some weight! So I get some bigger size clothes, then I lose it and go back again and swap.

Not only do I take it to them. Now I have discovered this interesting past-time I also go to a range of other Thrift shops. Some are run by church ladies groups. Sometimes the local scout group have a sale at their hall, so I give some to them. Or the local school.

And I always I come home with some little thing which often ends up going back in few months.

Its one way to recycle!

Recycle with Freecycle

Freecycle

Freecycle

In the UK we have a website called Freecycle. If you have anything you don't want you can advertise it and someone will come and collect it for you. Of course you have to give it away free of charge.

But the great thing is you can also find just what you need for free also. I have had a kids bike, an electric fire, a phone charger amongst other things.

But it's great to know your doing someone a good turn by getting rid of your old rubbish, and also being given exactly what you need for free!

I'm sure there must be something similar in other countries.
