Candied Nuts Recipe

They will think you have slaved in the kitchen for hours! Elegant and impressive-looking, these candied nuts are really quite simple to make. No candy thermometer necessary!

Use this candied nuts recipe to make an easy party snack or put them in a festive tin or a glass jar with a ribbon for an expensive-looking homemade present.

candied nuts recipe

  • 2 cups unsalted mixed nuts

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees and toast the nuts on a cookie sheet for 6 - 8 minutes until fragrant - do not burn!

  • Remove the nuts to a bowl and let the baking sheet cool, then line it with parchment paper.

  • In a large skillet, mix the sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons water. Simmer this mixture and occasionally swirl the pan until the liquid is amber colored - about 12 to 15 minutes (do not stir the mixture - this will cause it to crystallize).

  • Stir in the nuts, then spread the mixture on the parchment-covered baking sheet. Separate the nuts as much as you can and let them cool.

  • Break up any large clusters and store in an airtight container.
