candied nuts recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups unsalted mixed nuts
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 400 degrees and toast the nuts on a cookie sheet for 6 - 8 minutes until fragrant - do not burn!
Remove the nuts to a bowl and let the baking sheet cool, then line it with parchment paper.
In a large skillet, mix the sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons water. Simmer this mixture and occasionally swirl the pan until the liquid is amber colored - about 12 to 15
minutes (do not stir the mixture - this will cause it to crystallize).
Stir in the nuts, then spread the mixture on the parchment-covered baking sheet. Separate the nuts
as much as you can and let them cool.
Break up any large clusters and store in an airtight container.
